Spidernation.com was able to catch up with Richmond commit Riley Fox recently for a quick Q&A on his recruitment, verbal to Richmond and Senior year.
Riley is the latest player from Salem High School to continue his career at Richmond. Current Spider Alex Light is a junior on the offensive line and former Spider brothers Reggie & Stephen Barnette are also out of Salem. Riley was familiar with the Richmond staff, as they recruited his older brother Coleman Fox.
Why Richmond?
Riley chose Richmond over William & Mary, JMU, Lehigh & Navy. In choosing Richmond, he cited, "Richmond's academics and campus. The coaching staff and community are committed to developing the student-athletes. The team is having great success on the field, and I want to be a part of winning a national championship. A degree from Richmond will help my career after I graduate."
Coach McCorkle acted as the lead recruiter for Riley but also had an assist from Richmond's, "Great food and great people."

Richmond is getting a guy that loves to be physical, a guy with great feet and someone that plays well in either coverage or in support of the run. In his own words, he describes himself as "intense" and he demonstrates "leadership" both on and off the field. They're also getting a 4A West Defensive Player of the year. In addition to being the top tackler on his team this year, he has 6 TD's on offense.
Given his proximity to the Richmond campus, he was able to make it up to watch Richmond beat Norfolk St. in person and is hoping to make it back to the Brickhouse for a couple of more games this fall. Last year, he won a state championship, this year, he is focused on repeating, getting bigger, stronger and faster to set himself up for success at the LB position he was recruited to play.
Richmond has had tremendous success with the hard-nosed players out of Salem HS in the recent past. Riley Fox appears to be the next Salem Spartan poised to be a key cog in Richmond's football machine.
