On May 25, 2016, Nate Evans 5-10 192lbs. RB from Lee-Davis High School gave his verbal pledge to play football at the next level for the U.S. Naval Academy. He also had offers from Air Force and Army, along with Buffalo and Bucknell. On July 21, Evans posted a message on his Twitter account, stating: “After careful consideration with my family, I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment. This is a lifelong decision and I want to make sure it’s the right one. Navy has been nothing but good to me and my family and I am still interested in possibly pursuing that path. This is a very difficult decision but I know it is the best one for me and my future at this time. Thank you.” About 15 minutes later, Evans tweeted that he had received an offer from the Richmond Spiders. Less then a month later, Evans announced he was going to stay home and play for the surging Spiders.
Evans gets it done in the classroom and football field. The three year starter carries a 4.1 GPA, is a 2-time captain of his team and was named to the Richmond All-Metro team. Last year Richmond secured the services of local star running back Xavier Goodall (Henrico). The pipeline continues for the Spiders.
Do yourself a favor and watch the grit he shows at the 2:30 mark of the below video. The thing I love the most about his video is watching the way he picks up blocks. You don't see many RB videos showing blocking. Nate isn't afraid to stick his nose in there and mix it up.
