Marshall Wood on the Spiders

The Richmond Spiders have offered a scholarship to a 6'8 power forward/ small forward from Rustburg, Virginia named Marshall Wood. Wood shot 48 percent from the three-point line last season, has an advanced mid-range game and uses his athleticism to score easy baskets in transition. The combination of his ability to consistently knock down jump shots and attack the basket creates mismatches that the Spiders would love to exploit.
Wood's game has developed exponentially in the last year and he played extremely well on the summer circuit. His strong play did not go unnoticed and he is currently hearing from Virginia Tech, Virginia, Clemson and Michigan among others. Wood is focused on continuing his recent strong play and having a successful senior season. "My goals for right now are to hit the weight room really hard, and to start working with my high school team so we can win a state championship."
Wood is also still focused on Richmond as a potential destination for his college career. He echoes the sentiments of other recruits who believe the attractive academic package the university has to offer combined with the teams' recent success make it a great place to be both a college student and athlete. "I followed Richmond a lot as they moved deeper and deeper into the tournament. Justin Harper getting drafted was great it really showed his hard work and dedication he put in to his game, as well as the work and development the coaching staff put into him. Richmond is an attractive school because of its great academic programs, coaching staff, environment, and family feel on the team and around the campus."
