Down 14-13 the #1 ranked undefeated Spiders (8-0, 6-0 Colonial Athletic Association)flexed their muscles and scored 22 points in 3:40 TOP to take the lead 35-14, over the Towson Tigers in Baltimore (2-6, 1-4) one they never gave up. The day started off poorly for the Spiders as they drove to the Towson 5 only to have Eric Ward 11-14 for 177 yds passing and 6 carries for 3 yards)sacked for an 8 yard loss and a fumble recovered by the Tigers on their 13. The Tigers then moved the ball down the field to the Spider 23 and went for it on 4 and 1, but were not successful. The Spiders took over moving the ball down the field and Ward tossed a 10 yard TD pass to William Bischoff (the first of his career and only catch of the day), giving the Spiders a 7-0 lead. Freshman Wil Kamin kicked the ball off 55 yards, but the Tigers returned it 44 yards to the Spiders 41 and then scored on a 19 yard TD pass from Chroniger to Godlasky making the score 7-7. Still in the 2nd the Spiders took the KO on their 23 and marched down the field for a TD on a 1 yard run by Kendall Gaskins (3 TD's, one rushing and one reception), after the missed PAT the score was 13-7 Spiders. The teams then exchanged drives to end the half. The Spiders first drive ended poorly, unable to move the ball they punted only to give a short field to Towson (starting on the Richmond 34). The Tigers took advantage and scored on a 12 yard rushing TD by Chroniger. After the PAT the Tigers took the lead over the #1 Spiders. That may have been their mistake (taking the lead that early and waking the sleeping giant). The next drive for the Spiders was capped off by a 10 yd TD run by Justin Forte (22 carries for 121 yds) making the score 21-14 after a spectacular pass for the 2 pt conversion from Ward while being tackled to Mitchell. The Tigers then felt the strenght of the Stonewall D and were only able to move the ball from their 13 to their 18. They called for a risky fake punt that the Spiders recovered on the Tigers 3, the next play Kendall Gaskins carried the ball over the middle for the TD and with the EP the Spiders lead 28-14. The Spiders kicked to the Tigers who started on their 20, but aftee moving the ball only to their 25, Chroniger was intercepted by Treymane Graham who returned the ball for 6 more Spider points. With the EP the Spiders had taken a lead of 35-14 in just over 3 minutes. Once again the D stood tall and forced Tiger punt that went into the endzone giving the Spiders the ball on their 20 yard line. Going into the 4th the Spiders drove the ball down the field ending in a 10 yard screen pass from Ward to Kendall Gaskins to make the score 42-14 after the Howard EP. The Spiders were clearing the bench but still stopped the Tigers forcing a punt and then drove the ball down the field only to lose a fumble by QB John Laub (no passes 2 carries for 22 yds)on the Tiger 4. The teams excanged possession thereafter to bring the game to an end.

Richmond has won a school-record 17 straight games (1st in all FCS, 2nd in D-1; a Virginia D-1 record) and 11 straight on the road.

Next up for the Spiders are the 4th ranked Villanova Wildcats who are coming to Richmond no Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30PM on Nov 7. The winner may likely receive the #1 seed in the FCS playoffs.
